David Frank – Executive Chairman

David Frank

Executive Chairman

David began his career in investment banking in the early 80s. After five years in the City he swapped banking for financial journalism, a career move which led him to the BBC in 1989. After three years with the BBC as an on-air reporter, David quit the corporation to set up his own independent television production company.

David founded RDF Media in 1993 having raised financing from business angels. He grew the company from a single person entity to an Anglo-American content group with annual sales of c£130m and a value of £150m in 2010 when it was sold to De Agostini and became part of Zodiak Media group. Along the way RDF raised VC finance, was listed on the London Stock Market and was the subject of a management-led leveraged buy-out (initiated by David).

In 2010, as part of the sale of RDF to Zodiak, David become CEO of Zodiak Media, one of the largest television production groups in the world with annual sales of c£500m and operations in 20 countries. David was responsible for the integration of more than 50 companies worldwide (as a result of Zodiak's rapid buy and build strategy initiated in 2008), a £200m re-financing of the group and numerous creative initiatives. In 2013, David stepped down from his position at Zodiak to set up Dial Square.

Over his years of experience David has financed numerous start-ups, acquired many companies, ran a public company, raised significant bank and equity finance and established himself as a leading figure and entrepreneur in the UK media industry.

Matthew Frank – CEO

Matthew joined RDF in 1994 and was responsible for establishing and growing RDF’s international distribution business, RDF Rights. He did this from a standing start (from a small room in Ealing) and by 2010 (when RDF became part of Zodiak), the revenues of RDF Rights had grown to c£30m.

As part of the sale of RDF, Matthew was appointed CEO of Zodiak Rights, one of the world’s leading international distributors with revenues of c£60m selling drama, entertainment, comedy, factual and kids programming to more than 200 broadcasters worldwide.

He also managed the company’s relationship with hundreds of producers from across the globe. Matthew is a well-known figure among the international broadcast and production community.

Matthew is also a Director of Dial Square 86.

Nigel Pickard – President

Nigel Pickard

President

Nigel is one of the most experienced and well-connected television executives working in the UK today.

Since 1986, Nigel has been developing and producing a wide range of programmes and In 1998, he was appointed to ITV as Controller of Children’s and Youth Programmes, responsible for the commissioning and scheduling of all ITV children’s output. In 2000, he was appointed Controller of BBC Children’s, overseeing the launch of two new channels, CBBC and CBeebies.

In 2003, Nigel was headhunted by ITV to become Director of Programmes where he was responsible for the scheduling and commissioning of the entire ITV output including The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, Dancing On Ice, Doc Martin, Wild At Heart, Parkinson and Primeval.

After 3 successful years, he joined RDF Media as Group Director of Kids, Family Entertainment and Drama overseeing the development and production of series for UK and international broadcasters. When RDF Media was acquired by Zodiak in 2010, Nigel was appointed CEO Zodiak MEAA and CEO UK Kids and Family. He was also Chairman of the group’s key creative committee, the International Entertainment Board.

Nigel is also a Director of Dial Square 86.

Matt Honeybone FCA – Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Chief Financial and Operating Officer

A qualified chartered accountant, Matt has over 20 years of professional finance experience, including 14 years of working in successful, large-scale, international media rights exploitation businesses. Matt's finance experience includes strategic financial planning and management, financial reporting and analysis, investment appraisal, M&A, deal structuring, systems implementation, rights management and audit.

After seven years with PwC, Matt moved to IMG Media, the world's largest producer and distributor of sports rights, where he worked for seven years, becoming VP of Finance and Operations. In 2008 Matt left IMG to become Finance Director of RDF Rights and RDF Kids, and when RDF merged with Zodiak Entertainment in 2010 he became Chief Financial Officer of the newly formed Zodiak Rights division. Matt joined TRX as Chief Financial and Operating Officer in May 2015.

Matt is also CFO of Dial Square 86.

Juliette Squair – Deputy CEO

Deputy CEO

Juliette has over ten years of experience in influencing the development and growth of a disruptive global business model from small start up to an established domestic and now leading global music brand.

With a broad background in the television production industry (ranging from C4 to BBC and ITV), Juliette joined Audio Network at its inception in 2002 to spearhead the company’s growth and profile within the broadcast industry. She has driven and shaped the business in a number of key roles, becoming MD in 2011. In 2014 she became Audio Network’s Chief Strategy Officer, leading and implementing the company’s global strategy.

Juliette brings her wide international business experience and unique passion for start up business to the senior TRX management team. She holds an Honours Degree in English and German.

Cameron Price – CTO

CTO

Cameron began his career in the early 90s working for Microsoft and RealNetworks in the US as a developer. He has been involved in the TRX project from the beginning and has overseen its technical design and build.

He has been developing and launching software products for over 20 years. From 2002-2006 he led a team of developers at ICAP in building the software infrastructure underlying their global fixed-income trading platform.

In 2006 he joined Mint Digital as its CTO, growing the technology team from two to twenty five people over the next four years, and delivering dozens of web and mobile projects for clients of all sizes.

In 2010, he took over as CEO of Mint Digital, where he executed a shift towards the development of profitable proprietary businesses. Following his departure from Mint Digital last year he joined the TRX team as CTO.

James Duffen – Director, Corporate Development

James Duffen

Director, Corporate Development

James joins TRX with ten years' experience in the convergent media industry, working in various online strategy, research and financial analysis roles for the BBC, ITV, News International, Telegraph Media Group and Zodiak Media (where he was VP Special Projects under CEO David Frank).

Throughout his career he has evaluated investments in content projects and content companies, drafted and shaped strategic reviews, and led business development initiatives.

His experience at start-ups include working as a strategy consultant for Trendrr in New York (a social TV start-up acquired by Twitter in 2013) and as an Investment Manager for the Creative Capital Fund in London (an original investor in MCN ChannelFlip, acquired by News Corp in 2012).

James holds an MBA from London Business School.

Cat Davie – General Counsel

Cat joins TRX with eight years’ experience in the media industry. After four years at pre-school entertainment company HiT Entertainment, she moved in 2012 to Shine International, the number one voted television distributor in the Broadcast Peer Poll two years running.

Cat’s experience as a solicitor extends across a diverse range of business areas including content acquisition, finished programme and format licensing, digital media, merchandising, publishing, and live events.

Following the merger of Shine and Endemol in April 2015, Cat was appointed Head of Legal and Business Affairs of the new Endemol Shine International entity. Her team provided global legal and business support across a catalogue of 38,000 hours of scripted and non-scripted content.

Cat holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York and a Law degree from College of Law, London.

Carrie Russell – Head of Marketing

Carrie brings over 10 years’ strategic marketing experience to TRX having spent the majority of her career at fast growing technology and media businesses. Over 5 years of this spent in the TV industry managing the international marketing for production music library, Audio Network. Her tenure there saw annual profits grow over 50% year on year and for the company to rank in The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 for 3 years running.

Also during her time here Carrie was responsible for the creation and delivery of strategic and technological partnerships to grow the reach of the catalogue globally, including the internationalisation of the website and the launch of multiple international markets including Germany and Japan.

Her growth marketing experience combined with in depth knowledge of the TV industry and interest in developing technologies aligns perfectly with the growth ambitions of TRX.

Chris Lewis – Lead Developer

Lead Developer

A Software Development practitioner of 16 years, Chris has been successful in several roles, starting out as a graduate in 2001 and advancing to CTO by 2013.

Chris has focused his career on applying agile practices, OO techniques and building highly effective teams. He’s consistently adopted industry practices and has been successful in adapting to new technologies and languages.

In 2015 he decided that the functional paradigm (FP) was the way to solve a highly concurrent and complex system. It required TDS protocol parsing, machine learning algorithms and TCP networking. Having successfully implemented the system using Elixir, Chris decided he wished to pursue FP with Elixir.

Chris joined TRX as Lead Developer in 2017 to build a highly effective team, applying his wealth of experience to this exciting new project.

Josh Vince – Product Manager

Product Manager

Josh graduated from Bournemouth University's Scriptwriting for Film & TV degree with First Class Honours in 2012. That year, he was selected as one of the writers on the BBC Eastenders E20 writing school, a BBC initiative to find bright young writers to develop materials for the online spin-off. In 2012 he was also selected for The Network, a talent scheme ran by The Guardian International Television Festival.

In January 2013 he joined Linda Seifert Management, a film & TV agency, where he worked as an assistant to agents representing writers and directors across all scripted genres in the UK, USA and Europe.

Josh joined Dial Square in 2014 as a team assistant before becoming Product Manager for TRX.

Sanaz Roohi – Head of Client Services

Sanaz Roohi

Head of Client Services

Sanaz Roohi studied Media Studies, with Film Studies and Video Production. She joined RDF TV in 2004, working on production. She formally moved to their distribution division in 2008 to be part of their International Programme Management team.

Since then, she has been across all genres (Factual, Formats, Drama, Theatrical and Kids) and has overseen the delivery of thousands of hours for worldwide distribution. Part of her remit was to deal with clearance issues and to create International versions. She has advised producers from all around the world on the various needs that International broadcasters and platforms have in the ever-changing global market.

When the company merged with Zodiak, Sanaz was focused on combining catalogues. She guided various teams, including sales, acquisitions, legal, marketing, systems and servicing, as well as producers, clients and buyers worldwide. She left Zodiak Rights as VP of International Programme Operations and joins TRX as our Head of Client Services.

Federica Vons – Legal and Business Affairs Executive

Legal and Business Affairs Executive

Federica holds a Master in Laws (LL.M.) in Information Technology, Media and Communications Law with honours from the London School of Economics and a summa cum laude Degree in Law (LL.B.) from the University of San Andrés.

Focusing her career in Intellectual Property and E-Commerce, she has been beneficiary of multiple scholarships to pursue further specialization in the U.S, Spain, Belgium, U.K, Hong Kong and Argentina.

With an international profile and experience in the Latin American entertainment industry, Federica joins TRX after working for the regional Latin American Legal Department of The Walt Disney Company and the Corporate Department of Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, Argentina’s largest law firm.

Jennifer Buzzelli – SVP North America Acquisitions on behalf of TRX

Jennifer Buzzelli

SVP North America Acquisitions on behalf of TRX

Jen has spent 20 years working in content distribution – as both a buyer and seller – and in international co-production.

She began her career with National Geographic Television in Washington, D.C. and London and later moved to New York where she held positions at Beyond International and Hallmark's international networks.

For eight years she worked at Turner Broadcasting as Vice President, International Distribution & Co-Production for truTV before relocating to Madrid with her Spanish husband. In Madrid, she worked as a consultant for Turner's EMEA division, developing launch plans for truTV in the region.

After four and half years in Spain, Jen is thrilled to be back in New York – and to be working with the TRX team.

Raquel Yepes – Consultant, LatAm and US Hispanic Acquisitions on behalf of TRX

Consultant, LatAm and US Hispanic Acquisitions on behalf of TRX

Raquel Yepes is a pioneer in the development of television programming for Latin America and US Hispanic markets. She has an impressive list of industry contacts and is especially known for her determination and high production quality. Raquel has integrated the production of projects for corporate clients such as Disney International, People magazine in Spanish, Bimbo, Pepsi and AOL among others, as well as TV channels including Telemundo, Fox, Discovery Networks, A & E Networks, MGM, Galavision, Mega TV, V-me, and many more.

Raquel has extensive experience as an executive producer at companies like Plural Entertainment, Zodiak Latino, Telemundo and High Hill Entertainment. She has also produced different types of TV formats like reality shows, game shows, cooking programs among others. Raquel played an instrumental role in the sale and distribution of many of these programs where she was involved.

More recently Raquel has been focused as a consultant for new business development for companies in pursuit of the Latin American and US Hispanic markets. Raquel is very excited to be part of the TRX team.

Zoe Wilson – Senior Sales Executive

Having started out in the industry as a student, interning at Southern Star International, Zoe quickly became accustomed to life within international sales. She now brings with her 8 years’ experience in the International Distribution business, working with all genres across a range of Territories. After completing her degree, she started out as a co-ordinator at Endemol Worldwide Distribution, she then went on to do maternity cover for sales into Eastern Europe, before moving to become a Sales Executive for all of Central and Eastern Europe at Beyond International.

After leaving Beyond, Zoe moved to work for a short time as a Senior Sales Executive within the All3Media International sales team. She is now thrilled to instil her enthusiasm, knowledge and love of the Eastern European region into TRX.

Lloyd Morgan – Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Lloyd graduated from Bournemouth University’s Scriptwriting from Film and Television course in 2012, writing an award winning short film in the process. Since graduating he’s written several more shorts which have screened at festivals all over the world.

In 2013, he joined HMRC’s Incentive’s and Reliefs Unit, supporting the team responsible for delivering tax credits to British companies involved in TV, Film and Research & Development. Lloyd left HMRC in 2015 to pursue a career in the media and subsequently completed several internships at companies like ‘Heyday Films’, ‘The Imaginarium Studios’ and ‘The Weinstein Company’.

After acquiring some first-hand experience in the industry, Lloyd joined TRX in May 2016 as an Executive Assistant.

Nikki Goffe – Client Services – Support and Training Officer

Nikki graduated from Kings College London in with a degree in French studies in 2010 and has recently joined as a member of the Client services team at TRX.

After graduating she taught English in La Reunion and returned to the UK in 2011 to embark on her Account management career.

Nikki’s Client Services experience spans PR, digital and sales supporting a variety of clients across all sectors. She her Account management experience to TRX to help on-board and support them with the TRX process.

Freddy Ogilvie – Client Services – Support and Onboarding Assistant

Freddy recently graduated from Swansea University with a BA in Classical Civilisation, he is now working as a Client Services Team Assistant for TRX.

He has experience at multiple property firms, within which he predominantly dealt with the client facing side of the firms as well as sales.

Andrea Ballarin – Client Services - Support and Onboarding Assistant

Andrea was born and raised in Rome but found himself adopted by London when he moved to study Music Business at BIMM Institute. After graduating in 2015, Andrea worked with media and tech giants such as Universal and Uber, gaining experience in partnerships and client services.

Andrea joined TRX in May of 2017, taking up the role of Support & Onboarding Assistant. He’s here to help make your deals easier.

Anu Ravindran – Accountant

Accountant

Anu has over 15 years’ experience in the Accounting and Finance sector.

She commenced her accounting career working for Travel Connections GB Ltd. Over the years, as a qualified accountant she gained her experience in the field of finance working at British Steel pension Fund, The Charity Commission, ICC United Kingdom, Erickson Beamon Ltd and recently at Advanced Enzyme Science Ltd.

Anu joined TRX in October 2015.

Meet the board

TRX’s Advisory Board brings a wealth of experience and expertise in programme distribution, technology platforms, investment and content production.

  1. Stephen Lambert –

    Stephen Lambert

    Stephen Lambert is the founder and CEO of Studio Lambert, the production company he launched in 2008 with the support of All3Media.

    He is one of the best-known creative television executives in Britain and America, responsible for global unscripted hits such as Gogglebox, Undercover Boss, Wife Swap, Four in a Bed, Secret Millionaire, Tattoo Fixers and Faking It. His programs have won many awards, including several Primetime Emmys and more than half a dozen BAFTA awards.

    In 2010, the Huffington Post selected Lambert as one its Game Changers - '100 innovators, mavericks, visionaries, and leaders who are changing the way we look at the world and the way we live in it.'

    Lambert began his career at the BBC in 1983 where he worked for fifteen years. He joined David Frank at RDF Media in 1998 as director of programs, becoming the group’s chief creative officer after the company’s flotation on the AIM market.

  2. Nadine Nohr – Advisor

    Nadine Nohr

    Nadine has worked in international programme distribution for the last 25 years with organisations in the UK and US including the BBC and MTV. She ran ITV’s international distribution business for 12 years during the consolidation of ITV then joining the Shine Group where she became Chief Executive of Shine International.

    She currently runs an Independent media consultancy providing strategic and commercial advice to producers, broadcasters and distributors.

    She has been involved in the voluntary sector for the last 10 years, studying international development and Human Rights law, chairing the board of an international child rights charity and participating in programmes in Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.

    She does not support a football club other than by proxy but is a yoga practitioner and is currently learning antique chair restoration in France.

  3. Juliette Squair – Advisor

    Juliette has over ten years of experience in influencing the development and growth of a disruptive business model from small start up to an established domestic and now leading global music brand. With a broad background in the television production industry (ranging from C4 to BBC and ITV), Juliette joined Audio Network at its inception in 2002 to spearhead the company’s growth and profile within the broadcast industry. In addition to her position on the TRX Advisory Board, she is Audio Network’s Chief Strategy Officer, leading and implementing the company’s current and future global strategy.

  4. John McVay – Advisor

    John McVay

    John McVay is the Chief Executive of Pact. He has been involved in programme making as a producer, consultant and trainer since 1986. Prior to his appointment at Pact, John held positions as the founding Director of the Research Centre for Television and Interactivity in Glasgow and was Director of Training and Education at Scottish Screen. John is currently Chairman of the Creative Diversity Network, Chairman of the UK’s digital single market campaign and is the UK rights spokesperson for the Creative Coalition Campaign. At Pact, John led the successful campaign that resulted in the 2003 Communications Act which resulted in the UK having the world’s most creative and commercially successful independent production sector.

  5. Jonathan Norman – Advisor

    Jonathan Norman

    Jonathan Norman has over 20 years of investment banking experience, focusing throughout on the media, internet and related-tech sectors.

    He is a Partner at Stella Capital Advisors, having previously been at Jefferies (MD, Global Media and Internet Group), LongAcre (founding member and MD) and JP Morgan (IB Group, in NY and LA). Jonathan has advised a variety of public and private companies, financial institutions and family offices on a range of transactions in the US, Europe and Asia.…including, inter alia Sony, Time Warner, All3Media, RDF Media, ProSiebenSat.1, Shine, Celador, Schibsted, the Mill, Double Negative, Hit Entertainment (Apax), Chorion, Zefa Visual Media, BBC, ITV (Granada), HBO CE (Sony, Disney, Warner), PokerStrategy, Product Madness, Modern Times Group (MTG), Antenna, MGM, Demand Media and Dunnhumby.
